Project: unreal surrealism

This project is still in its infancy. So much so that I can't show a single picture yet. I don't even have a clear concept in mind yet. All I have so far are a few vague ideas for pictures. To realise them, I need one, or even better, several photo models. I'll try to describe what kind of pictures I want to take:

  • The aim is to create black and white images. That's certainly no surprise, as I only take black and white pictures.
  • The pictures are taken outdoors. In cloudy weather, some rain must be planned for, but is rather undesirable. But the transition from cloudy and dull to rain is only a fine line.
  • The images should have something unreal, almost absurd, about them. Almost surreal, but not really. Hence the project title.
  • However, the pictures should still be real photos and not mostly created on the computer.

There is always one person at the centre of the pictures. And I look for this person. Ideally, it's not always the same person, so I would also like to have several models. However, I would be happy to have one model so that I can start the project. At this point, I'll list the characteristics I would like to see in the models:

  • Female model between 18 and 35 years old.
The lower limit is rather a limit to avoid legal problems. Younger girls could also take part, but then I would need the written consent of their parents.
The upper limit is more of an arbitrary limit, as the images in my head are more suited to a younger woman. The limit is therefore not quite so set in stone.
  • Expressive face.
This feature is very important, as the face is a central point of these images. It would also be nice if the model could portray emotions and moods well. However, this characteristic is difficult to grasp and also somewhat subjective.
  • Slim figure.
The women in these pictures are supposed to represent something petite.
  • At least somewhat flexible in terms of time.
As the weather plays an important role in these pictures, long-term planning of the dates is not possible. Of course, this does not mean constant availability, but a little flexibility would be helpful.
  • Not too much physical distance.
It would be ideal if the model lived in Siegen, but I would travel up to 100km for a photo shoot.
  • Have fun slipping into a role.
That's another important point. I don't want to take portraits in this project, I want to tell a small, quirky story. This also involves dressing up a bit and playing a role.

This project is a purely private photo project. It is therefore unfortunately not possible to pay the models. Only the resulting images can be used by all participants. For me, having fun is the most important thing in a project like this, and it should be the same for the models.

If you are now interested in taking part in this project, please send me an e-mail to ralf@galerie-farblos.de . If you like, attach a picture of yourself to the e-mail or simply describe yourself verbally. I look forward to every application.
